1 dead, four injured in Essex County New York crash, police say
One person has died and four were injured following a crash in Crown Point on Tuesday evening.New York State Police said the two-vehicle crash happened just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 9N and Bridge Road.Investigators learned that Larry Smith, 69, of Baltimore, Maryland, was driving west on Bridge Road when he entered the intersection and collided with another vehicle.Smith suffered severe injuries in the crash and died at the scene, police said. The passenger in that vehicle, a 62-year-old woman, was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries. She is listed in critical condition.The driver and two passengers in the other vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
