1 dead, another injured in single-vehicle crash in Aurora; charges expected

DENVER (KDVR) — A man is dead and a woman is in serious but stable condition after a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning on the border of Denver and Aurora, according to police. Both Denver and Aurora police responded to the intersection of East Montview Boulevard and Yosemite Street Sunday at about 3:45 a.m. Police determined through an initial investigation that a white Chevy Silverado was headed south on Central Park Boulevard, which is in Denver. Witnesses told police that the pickup ran a red light at the intersection where it traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a traffic signal pole on the southeast corner of the intersection head-on, which is in Aurora. Police said the truck spun 45 degrees to the left where it struck the traffic control signal box with the truck's driver-side, knocking out power to the signal lights. Good Samaritans pulled the driver and passenger from the vehicle to render aid, according to police. The 20-year-old female driver was transported to a hospital where she was reported to be in serious but stable condition. The 21-year-old male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe that speed and alcohol are factors in this crash, and charges are expected once a blood test is returned. The Aurora agency noted this marks the 9th fatal traffic crash of 2025.
