1 dead, 1 injured in Jackson County, Mississippi car crash

(WKRG) — One man is dead and another injured following a crash in Jackson County, Miss. According to Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter, traffic deputies responded to a crash in an area of Wade-Vancleave Road at about 6:30 p.m. Monday. When deputies arrived, they found a pickup truck that had hit several trees, Ledbetter said. The driver, a 31-year-old from Hurley, was still strapped in with his seatbelt. He was airlifted to USA Medical Center in Mobile, Ledbetter said. According to Ledbetter, 33-year-old Joshua Welzbacher had been in the back seat, but was ejected from the truck. He died at the scene, Ledbetter said. Ledbetter said the cause of the accident is unknown.
