1 dead, 1 injured in Highway 287 crash near Denver.

Tragically, a fatal accident occurred on Highway 287 and Dillon Road in Lafayette early Monday morning, resulting in the loss of one individual's life and another person being hospitalized. Lafayette Police Department received reports of the crash around 6:23 a.m. Their initial findings indicate that a Nissan pickup was traveling eastbound with the right of way when it was struck by a Chevrolet pickup that ran a red light while traveling southbound. The collision was so severe that both vehicles were propelled into the median's traffic light pole. The Nissan's driver, a man around 52 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet, a male aged approximately 56, was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Thankfully, there were no other passengers in either vehicle. Due to the accident investigation and cleanup, Highway 287 was temporarily closed, but all lanes were reopened by 9 a.m.
