1 dead, 1 injured in fatal Orangeburg County crash after driver swerves to avoid deer
One person is dead and another is injured after a Thursday night single vehicle collision in Orangeburg County. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol the collision occurred on US 176 near Coach Road when a driver swerved to avoid a deer in the road. Officials state that the involved vehicle was travelling east on US 176 when they swerved to avoid hitting a deer in the road, causing the vehicle to travel off the right side of the roadway, overturn and strike a tree. The driver was declared deceased at the scene and a passenger was transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.
