Zion Police probe deadly accident possibly tied to TikTok broadcast
A tragic incident occurred in Zion on November 3rd where a 59-year-old individual lost their life after being hit by a vehicle, as reported by local authorities. Allegations suggest that a social media livestream may have been linked to the accident. Zion Police officers were called to the scene at the intersection of Sheridan Road and 33rd Street, where it was determined that the victim, identified as Darren Lucas, was struck by a 2015 Ford Edge. Lucas was rushed to Vista East Medical Center but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Ford, a 43-year-old woman from Zion, cooperated with authorities, while the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) aided in the investigation process. Police were alerted to a social media video possibly connected to the incident, in which a TikTok personality known as Tea_Tyme_3 could be heard in distress, stating, "I just hit somebody." Verification of the video is still underway by law enforcement.
