Woolwich's Route 1 reopens post fiery collision
A portion of Rt. 1 in Woolwich had to be shut down in both directions on Friday morning following a collision involving two vehicles, as reported by the Wiscasset Fire Department. The road was cleared for traffic around 8:30 a.m. Emergency responders mentioned that both vehicles caught fire, but details on injuries were not immediately available. The incident occurred at the Rt. 1 and Mountain Rd. intersection close to Montsweag Flea Market. An employee at the nearby Irving gas station in Wiscasset indicated speaking with the Edgecomb fire chief, noting that the accident involved a car and a box truck transporting potatoes.
