Woman sought for fatal hit-and-run collision in South LA

Authorities are currently seeking Cierra Denae Whitaker, a 24-year-old woman wanted for a fatal hit-and-run incident in South Los Angeles. The tragic incident took place on July 5 at the intersection of 91st and Figueroa Streets in the Vermont Vista neighborhood. Whitaker was behind the wheel of a Porsche sedan when she ran a red light, crashing into the victim's car at nearly 100 miles per hour. Emerson Gonzalez Escobar, 25, was the victim in this devastating accident and unfortunately lost his life. Despite attempts by bystanders to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the collision, Whitaker and her two female passengers abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot, leaving the scene without any regard for the victim or others. LAPD Detective Ryan Moreno expressed deep sadness over the incident, emphasizing the lack of concern shown by the suspects. Investigators have revealed that the Porsche was not owned by Whitaker. Despite ongoing efforts to locate her, she remains at large. A reward of $50,000 has been announced for information leading to Whitaker's arrest, as she is known to frequent Orange County and Las Vegas areas. Detective Moreno also mentioned that Whitaker is a known prostitute in the Figueroa corridor of Los Angeles. The victim's family is understandably devastated by the situation, with the suspects still unidentified. The involvement of drugs or alcohol in the crash remains uncertain. Anyone with information on Whitaker's whereabouts is encouraged to contact the LAPD at 1-877-527-3247.
