Woman fatally trapped under car after it crashes into Florence grocery store

A tragic event occurred on Saturday in Florence when a woman lost her life after a car crashed into the Yasmin Halal Market on Turfway Road. The market, popular with Florence's Somali immigrant community, offers Halal meat, groceries, drinks, and Islamic clothing. The vehicle, identified as a gray Toyota Camry, accelerated into the market, causing destruction to the front entrance and trapping the woman, later identified as Fatuma Ali, 63, underneath. She was known as the store owner to community members. The police, including the Boone County coroner, responded to the scene; however, it is still unclear where exactly she was standing when the incident occurred. Authorities are investigating the crash, with both the Accident Reconstruction Team and Criminal Investigations Unit involved in the process. The suspect has not been named yet, but they are cooperating with the police.
