Woman ejected and killed in Cottage Grove crash was not wearing seatbelt, according to state patrol
A 43-year-old woman from Hastings lost her life in a collision that occurred on Wednesday evening in the eastern Twin Cities metro area, as reported by the Minnesota State Patrol. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 61 and Kingsborough Trail in Cottage Grove, situated just north of the Mississippi River. The state patrol mentioned that the victim was not wearing a seat belt when her southbound SUV crashed into a sedan at the crossing, causing her SUV to overturn and ejecting her from the vehicle. Thankfully, the 22-year-old driver of the sedan from Cottage Grove emerged unharmed. The state patrol confirmed that alcohol was not a contributing factor to the accident, but investigations are ongoing. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety recorded a total of 177 traffic fatalities in the state as of Wednesday.
