Woman admits fault in deadly motorcycle crash
A woman from Massachusetts has pleaded guilty to causing a fatal crash in Salem, New Hampshire, after driving distracted by her phone. Sara Grams was heading home on August 22, 2023, when she swerved into oncoming traffic, colliding with a motorcycle and killing 24-year-old Austin Willette. His mother, Arlene Willette, who happened to witness the crash, expressed the deep impact on their family and friends. Prosecutors revealed that Grams had been using her phone moments before the collision, despite her initial denial. Grams apologized during her hearing, expressing regret for the tragedy. The Willette family, in their pursuit to find meaning in their loss, established Austin's Voice Against Distracted Driving to raise awareness. Grams received a prison sentence of one to four years for negligent homicide, with the possibility of parole after one year.
