Two children ages 7 and 9 die when Pennsylvania driver hits horse-drawn carriage

Two young children lost their lives and five others were injured in a tragic incident over the weekend in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. According to Pennsylvania State Police, the driver of a Mini Cooper collided with a horse and buggy on State Route 225 in Jackson Township on Sunday evening. The crash resulted in the ejection of all six occupants of the horse and buggy onto different parts of the road, shoulder, and embankment. The 7-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 9-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The four remaining individuals in the horse and buggy sustained various injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The horse also sadly perished in the collision. The driver of the Mini Cooper, who suffered minor injuries, reportedly admitted to authorities that he may have fallen asleep before the accident. As of Monday night, the identities of the deceased children had not been disclosed, and it remains uncertain whether charges will be brought forth in connection with the incident. The Pennsylvania State Police are currently conducting an investigation into the matter.
