Two adolescent girls discovered in refrigerated truck in I-15 crash on Wednesday

A man from Utah, aged 28, is facing serious charges of child abuse after two teenage girls were discovered within a refrigerated truck following a crash on Interstate 15 in Lindon this past Wednesday. The man, Jacob Ortell Scott, was taken into custody following the incident and is currently being detained without bail. The initial collision occurred at 11:15 a.m., involving a semi-truck driven by Scott, which resulted in the closure of northbound lanes for several hours due to injuries sustained by numerous individuals. During the investigation of the accident, Utah Highway Patrol officers were in the process of entering the refrigerated trailer of Scott's truck when one officer noticed two pairs of eyes inside. Scott purportedly seemed surprised by the discovery but eventually confessed to having two children in the trailer. The officers reported that it was impossible for the girls, aged 12 and 14, to exit the trailer. Subsequent inquiries revealed that the girls had been in the trailer since departing from Huntington on their way to Lindon, a journey lasting almost two hours. Even though the thermostat inside the truck was set to 30 degrees Fahrenheit, the thermometer within the trailer displayed a temperature of 29.5 degrees at one point. Moreover, bedding was discovered within the trailer.
