Truck driver badly hurt in I-94 crash, Ann Arbor highway shut down
Earlier this week, a rollover crash involving a tractor-trailer led to the temporary closure of a section of Interstate 94 in Washtenaw County, Michigan. The incident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. on eastbound I-94 near Jackson Avenue in Ann Arbor Township. The driver of the truck sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency response teams, including the Ann Arbor Fire Department and Michigan State Police, worked together to handle the situation. The closure, located at Exit 171/M-14, lasted for several hours, with eastbound traffic being redirected to M-14. By 2:15 p.m., the affected stretch of the interstate had reopened. The accident was caused when a gravel-hauling semi-truck lost control, struck the guard rail, and rolled into a ditch. The driver, a 55-year-old man from Muskegon, was rescued and taken to the University of Michigan Hospital for treatment. To assist in the operation, additional agencies like the Washtenaw County Road Commission, Corrigan Towing, and Ann Arbor Police Department were also on the scene.
