Tragic Van Nuys collision connected to previous hit-and-run results in 1 fatality, 1 injured

A fatal accident occurred in the San Fernando Valley early Wednesday which resulted in one fatality and another person being taken to the hospital, following a crash that was connected to a hit-and-run 10 minutes earlier. Police received reports of a hit-and-run at Riverside Drive and Woodman Avenue in North Hollywood around 12:35 a.m. The suspect vehicle, a gray coupe, was involved in this incident and later crashed at Saticoy Street and Kester Avenue in Van Nuys at around 12:45 a.m. Emergency responders found the driver of the Prius deceased at the scene, while the driver of the coupe was conscious and transported to the hospital. The crash occurred near Robert Fulton College Preparatory School, a location where residents mention accidents are common. Witnesses mentioned that neighbors quickly used fire extinguishers to douse a fire that started in the gray coupe after the collision. The identities of those involved have not been disclosed, and there is uncertainty regarding the factors that led to the crash, such as speed, impairment, or other causes. The LAPD Valley Traffic Division is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
