Tragic death as child hit by car
Authorities are looking into an incident that resulted in the tragic death of a child at a business in Edgewood. Edgewood police reported that a two-year-old was fatally injured when a vehicle ran over them at an auto parts store on State Highway 333 on Aug. 17. The police noted that the accident occurred due to an uneven spot that led to the passenger door unexpectedly opening, causing the child to fall out of the vehicle and be struck by it. Subsequently, the driver left the scene with the child, eventually seeking help from emergency services at a different location. The child was taken to UNM Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the child has not been disclosed yet, and no charges have been pressed as the investigation is ongoing.
