The suspect is currently in custody with non-life-threatening injuries, while law enforcement reports that a dog was euthanized due to the crash, and two other dogs are receiving medical care. Authorities responded to reports of an armed individual near East Lake Street and 4th Avenue South, which later evolved into an ongoing carjacking incident. The suspect drove recklessly, resulting in a crash before attempting another carjacking at a red light. After fleeing in a stolen vehicle, the suspect was pursued by police and subsequently crashed into an uninvolved vehicle at Penn Avenue North and Olson Memorial Highway, claiming the lives of two women. The child in the uninvolved vehicle is being treated for injuries. The suspect was found in possession of a firearm and three dogs taken from the stolen car, one of which was euthanized while the others are being treated.
