Tragic collision shuts down lanes on 210 Freeway in Sunland

A tragic accident involving a Prius and a semi-truck led to the death of one person and resulted in lane closures for an extended period on the 210 Freeway in Los Angeles' Sunland area early Wednesday morning. The collision occurred around 2:15 a.m. on the westbound side of the freeway near Sunland Boulevard when the silver Prius rear-ended the semi-truck. Emergency footage showed the Prius trapped under the semi as rescue teams worked to reach the driver. The California Highway Patrol confirmed the fatality caused by the crash. Due to the emergency response and investigation, a Sigalert was initiated, leading to the closure of two westbound lanes. The crash's precise cause is still being examined. At around 4:30 a.m., the Sigalert was extended for an additional two hours, closing one more westbound lane.
