Tragic Collision on Highway 101 near Yolanda Ave
A tragic incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when a driver lost their life in a vehicle accident on northbound Highway 101 near the Yolanda Avenue off ramp. The California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a potential solo vehicle collision at around 2:34 p.m. Initial details indicated that a red truck or SUV veered off the right shoulder, hitting the central divider and a guardrail before overturning into a ditch approximately 20 feet from the freeway. Despite multiple vehicles initially stopping at the scene, it was later confirmed that only one vehicle was directly involved in the accident. Emergency responders found the driver trapped inside the overturned ford pickup and despite efforts to extricate them and transport them to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, the driver did not survive.
