
Tragic accident in North Dakota results in deaths of woman and child
Earlier this morning, tragedy struck at the junction of Highway 85 and 23rd Street NW near Watford City as two individuals, one of them a child, lost their lives in a collision, as reported by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The incident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. on September 28, 2025 when a truck towing a trailer failed to adhere to a stop sign while traveling east on 23rd Street. The truck collided with the passenger side of a Ford Fusion heading south, propelling both vehicles into the southeast ditch. Regrettably, a 25-year-old woman and a 5-year-old girl from Watford City, who were passengers in the Ford, succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the crash. The car's 24-year-old driver also sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to Bismarck for treatment. Fortunately, the 41-year-old truck driver from Bybee, Tennessee, emerged unscathed. All individuals involved were wearing seatbelts during the incident, which unfolded under clear road and weather conditions. Various emergency response teams, including the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office, McKenzie Rural Fire, Watford City Police Department, and McKenzie County Ambulance, rushed to the scene. Presently, an investigation is ongoing to decipher the precise circumstances surrounding the crash.
