Traffic delays at I-465 and I-70 interchange due to semi truck crash

A semi truck accident caused significant traffic disruptions at the junction of Interstates 465 and 70 on the west side of Indianapolis over the weekend. The Indiana Department of Transportation alerted the public to the incident at around 11:41 a.m. when a semi overturned on I-465 southbound near mile marker 9.4. This led to the closure of the ramp connecting I-465 southbound to I-70 westbound. Immediate updates from INDOT indicated ongoing cleanup and investigation activities, including the closure of the I-465 northbound to I-70 westbound ramp. By 1:36 p.m., some ramps had reopened, but the ramp from I-465 southbound to Sam Jones Expressway remained closed for cleanup. INDOT's final update at 5:57 p.m. confirmed the full reopening of all ramps and lanes. The Wayne Township Fire Department and Decatur Township Fire Department collaborated on crash cleanup, with the former dispatching a hazmat team due to minor fuel spills. INDOT mentioned injuries from the crash, but details on their severity and the cause of the accident are still pending.
