Three individuals in critical condition following helicopter accident in California
Sacramento's fire department reported that three individuals suffered critical injuries following a helicopter accident in the city. The incident occurred on Highway 50, where a medical helicopter, transporting a patient to the hospital, crashed and overturned. The captain of the Sacramento Fire Department, Justin Sylvia, stated that the helicopter encountered an in-air emergency just after 7pm local time. The crew, consisting of a pilot, nurse, and paramedic, all in critical condition, were assisted by bystanders and emergency responders in the rescue operation. Despite the crash causing a significant debris field, fortunately, there were no other injuries or vehicles involved in the incident. Lisa Kaplan, a Sacramento City councilwoman who was on the scene, described the chilling sight of smoke coming from the helicopter. The closure of the road is anticipated to last for an extended period, as the cause of the crash is still being investigated by the authorities.
