
Three individuals hurt in aircraft accident in Brookings
A plane crash at the Brookings Regional Airport resulted in injuries to three individuals and the aircraft catching on fire. The incident occurred when a Beechcraft single-engine plane, carrying three occupants, crashed while attempting to take off for a personal trip to Montana. The pilot encountered engine issues shortly after takeoff and tried to return to the airport, but the plane ultimately crashed in flames at the southwest corner of the airport. Emergency responders swiftly arrived on the scene - the Brookings Fire Department extinguished the fire, and the Brookings Ambulance transported the occupants to Brookings Hospital for treatment. The pilot and a front-seat passenger were airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital for further care, while the other passenger remains at Brookings Hospital with minor injuries. Authorities are investigating the incident, and the public has been advised to steer clear of the area.
