Teen killed in hit-and-run in Dana Point identified by Orange County officials

The Orange County Sheriff's Department has identified a 13-year-old boy, Luis Adrian Morales Pacheco, from San Juan Capistrano, who tragically lost his life in Dana Point during a hit-and-run collision while on his way to school. Pacheco passed away at a hospital after being struck near the Park Lantern and Dana Point Harbor Drive intersection. Sgt. Lizbeth Gwisdalla mentioned that the driver, Bradley Funk, aged 59, reportedly veered onto the curb and struck Pacheco. Thankfully, his older brother, who was walking beside him, survived the accident. Funk attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by authorities later on. Authorities suspect Funk was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The Orange County District Attorney's Office reported that Funk had been arrested and charged for a previous DUI incident just three days before the fatal collision in Dana Point.
