Teen from Springfield dies in Highway 13 accident
A tragic accident occurred on Missouri Highway 13 yesterday evening, resulting in the death of a Springfield teenager. The crash, reported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, took place at around 7:10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, just seven miles north of Springfield. A 65-year-old woman driving a 2024 GMC Sierra attempted to cross the southbound lanes of Highway 13 and entered the path of a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze and a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado. Unfortunately, the young driver of the Cruze, a 19-year-old woman from Springfield, lost her life in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by an official from the Greene County Medical Examiner's Office. A 65-year-old female passenger of the Silverado sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment. It was noted in the report that all individuals involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. This tragedy marks the 115th fatality for MSHP Troop D in 2025.
