Teen from Smithtown miraculously regains movement after Gilgo Beach wave incident
A casual summer swim turned into a life-changing experience for 17-year-old Connor Dubeau. While enjoying a day at Gilgo Beach with friends, he dove into a wave and fractured his C4 vertebrae, leaving him temporarily paralyzed. Quick-thinking friends helped him to shore, where emergency responders took over. Connor underwent surgery and faces months of physical therapy, but he remains grateful and optimistic. Despite the setbacks, he is determined to recover and return to his passion for hockey. Connor's journey of perseverance is guided by his personal motto: "What your mind can believe your body will achieve."
