Teen from Iowa severely injured in suspected 'car surfing' incident
The Ottumwa police reported that a 17-year-old girl was severely injured in what seems to be a "car surfing" incident. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Monday when emergency responders were called to Church Street. Upon arriving, the injured girl was found at the roadside. Initial reports suggest that she had been standing on top of a moving car before falling off and sustaining serious injuries. The girl, whose identity has not been disclosed, was first taken to Ottumwa Regional Health Center by ambulance and later airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for further treatment. The Ottumwa police are currently investigating the accident.
