Teen charged after deadly head-on crash
A tragic incident in the Triad has resulted in a fatality following a collision, as reported by the Burlington Police Department. The incident took place on Sept. 27 at the intersection of E. Webb Avenue and Flanner Street, involving an Audi and a Chevrolet Blazer. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and required extrication, with the driver of the Blazer sustaining critical injuries. Investigators determined that the Audi had crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with the Blazer. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses captured the reckless driving behavior of the Audi's operator, identified as Paige Moore, 19. It was later revealed that Moore was driving under the influence of an impairing substance. Tragically, the driver of the Blazer, Richard Smith, succumbed to his injuries on Oct. 2. Moore faced charges including second-degree murder, DWI, speeding, and reckless driving, and surrendered at Alamance County Magistrate’s Office. Held without bond at the Alamance County Jail, Moore is scheduled for a court appearance on Friday.
