Suspect detained for fatal hit-and-run on I-25 in Denver

Law enforcement officers have detained an individual they suspect was operating the vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision in Denver. Officials allege that Marisol Infante, aged 29, was the driver who struck and fatally injured a man while he was changing a tire on the side of I-25 near 6th Avenue last weekend. The incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. on July 5 in the southbound lanes of I-25, just north of the West Alameda Avenue exit. The victim, identified as Carlos Mercado Arzola, aged 52, tragically lost his life in the crash. Infante reportedly failed to stop or provide necessary information following the collision, as required by law. Subsequently, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued a Medina Alert. Infante surrendered herself to the Boulder Police Department early Wednesday morning, as per the details in the arrest affidavit.
