Southbound I-69 Closed in Johnson County After Crash
A major accident occurred in Johnson County on Monday morning, leading to the closure of all lanes of I-69 Southbound. The crash took place near Stones Crossing Road, just north of SR-144 at around 5:30 a.m. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office provided images showing extensive damage to a car and debris strewn across the road. Authorities reported that deputies, along with Bargersville police, were attending to a disabled vehicle when it was struck. The stranded car was parked partially off the side of I-69 when the collision occurred near the 154 mile-marker. The driver of the immobilized vehicle was taken to IU Methodist Hospital in serious condition, while the driver who hit the stranded vehicle did not require transport. An investigation is ongoing, and the Southbound lanes of I-69 are anticipated to remain closed for an unspecified period while evidence is gathered. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use an alternate route, such as exiting I-69 at Smith Valley Road to reach SR-144 and re-enter I-69 Southbound.
