Small fire ignited following plane crash in Fallbrook

In Fallbrook, California, a plane carrying only the pilot crashed on Tuesday afternoon, sparking a small brush fire upon landing, authorities reported. Emergency crews from the North County Fire Protection District quickly responded to the scene near South Mission Road and Air Park Road, close to Fallbrook Airpark, around 2:15 p.m. The pilot sustained minor injuries. Though a spot fire emerged near the aircraft, the plane itself did not catch fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire by 2:45 p.m. California Highway Patrol issued a Mayday Alert relating to the crash site, where a Cessna-type aircraft had landed.
