Sinkhole caused by road collapse in Bangkok leads to traffic disruptions and evacuations

A section of a road in Bangkok collapsed, creating a large sinkhole that caused traffic disruptions, infrastructure damage, and evacuations. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but three vehicles were affected by the incident. Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt attributed the collapse to the construction of an underground train station. Videos captured the road sinking, pulling down electricity poles and damaging water pipes. A four-lane road was completely severed as the hole expanded. Nearby buildings, including a police station and hospital, were evacuated as a safety precaution. Authorities have shut off utilities in the area while they work to repair the sinkhole before heavy rain, typical of Bangkok's current monsoon season, could worsen the situation.
