Semi-Truck in Collision on I-8, Winterhaven Drive
A driver sustained serious injuries in a collision involving a semi-truck on Interstate 8 near Winterhaven, California, last Friday morning, according to authorities. The incident occurred around 9:25 a.m. on September 19th on the westbound I-8, just west of the Winterhaven Drive off-ramp in Imperial County. The crash involved a small silver Toyota Prius and a big rig, with the car ending up stuck underneath the truck. The driver of the car, who was the sole occupant, was taken to the hospital with significant injuries. Emergency responders from American Medical Response and Imperial County Fire arrived at the scene. The collision briefly blocked the number two lane before both vehicles were cleared to the right shoulder by tow trucks. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
