
Schools support West Plains Softball post-bus accident
On the morning of Friday, Sept. 19, the West Plains School District shared news of a slight mishap involving their softball team's bus as it traveled to Branson. The incident, detailed on the school's social media, resulted from a passing truck's side mirror catching the bus's stop arm on the US 65 exit. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the students, who were promptly checked and given the all-clear. With gratitude, Matthew Orchard, the Director of Human Resources and Student Services, acknowledged the swift response of emergency personnel. Despite the minor setback, the heartening response from neighboring schools took center stage. Branson School District came to the rescue by swiftly offering transportation for the team to ensure they made it to their scheduled games at Ballparks of America. Orchard praised the selfless assistance, remarking on the seamless rescheduling of the tournament to accommodate West Plains, ensuring the team could participate in their matches.
