Route 14 collision leaves five injured; Child ejected from car seat: officials
On Sunday in unincorporated Harvard, a head-on collision occurred, injuring five individuals, including two children. During the incident, one child was ejected from a car seat. Emergency responders were called to the intersection of Route 14 and Lembcke Road around 4:04 p.m. The collision involved an SUV and sedan. The sedan driver was rescued from the vehicle by officials and taken to the hospital in serious condition. Two adults from the SUV sustained moderate injuries and were also transported to a nearby hospital. Both children in the SUV were hurt, with one of them being ejected from a car seat and airlifted to a trauma center in serious condition while the other child was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Route 14 was closed in both directions for about an hour and a half as crews worked to clear the area. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the incident.
