Restaurant owner from Albuquerque dies in solo car accident

David Leyva, an owner of Jersey Mike's franchise restaurants in Albuquerque and Las Cruces, tragically passed away in a rollover crash in southeastern New Mexico. The incident occurred early Saturday morning when Leyva's vehicle, a white BMW, crashed in a town park. Despite efforts to save him, Leyva, who was the only person in the car and not wearing a seatbelt, succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. The Mesilla Marshals Office is conducting an investigation into the crash, including a toxicology report to be analyzed by traffic investigators.
