Randy Couture, UFC icon, sustains severe burns and injuries in racetrack accident

Former UFC champion Randy Couture was injured in a car crash during a practice session at a racetrack near Kansas City, Missouri. The 62-year-old retired fighter and former Army drill sergeant was airlifted to a burn center where he is currently receiving treatment. Couture's manager and attorney, Samuel Spira, expressed confidence in his client's recovery, stating that Couture is resilient. Further updates on Couture's condition will be provided on Thursday. Reports indicate that he sustained first- and second-degree burns, trauma injuries, and smoke inhalation from the crash that completely wrecked the car he was driving. The cause of the accident is still unknown. Couture has a notable background in wrestling and mixed martial arts, achieving significant success in both sports. More recently, he has ventured into hot rod racing, with plans to compete in the NHRA's Pro Mod program later this year.
