
Provo Police respond to two rush hour crashes, one resulting in a death
Provo Police received reports of two accidents on University Avenue during rush hour on Monday, one of which tragically resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. The fatal incident occurred around 6:35 p.m. as a passenger van turning left at the intersection of 1200 S collided with a southbound motorcycle. The rider sustained fatal injuries and was taken to Utah Valley Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. Meanwhile, another crash near 300 S University Avenue involved a vehicle hitting a road structure, causing minor injuries to the driver. Responding officers initiated a DUI investigation due to the circumstances of the second crash. The Orem Police Department provided support in managing both incidents simultaneously during peak traffic hours, for which Provo Police expressed gratitude. While some southbound lanes were temporarily closed for the fatal crash investigation, all lanes have since been reopened.
