Probe into I-95 crash that caused 2 fatalities
During the Oceanside Christmas Parade on Dec. 4, 2021, a tragic incident occurred when a gold Lexus, driven by Susan Harvey, struck an elderly couple as they were leaving the event. The woman tragically passed away from her injuries weeks later. Harvey, who had been out on bail for nearly four years following her arrest for DUI manslaughter, has now accepted a plea deal that will see her serve three years in state prison. Despite previous plans to go to trial, Harvey chose to change her plea to no contest in front of Circuit Judge Robert Meadows in order to address the backlog of cases. She is set to be sentenced on October 14, 2025, and will also face 10 years of probation which includes various conditions related to DUI charges. This resolution allows the Vero Beach community to begin healing from the Christmas tragedy.
