Police officer on Long Island critically injured during funeral procession
An unfortunate incident occurred on Monday during a funeral procession in Lindenhurst that left a Long Island highway officer, Officer Michael Hyland, seriously injured. The Nassau County officer was leading the motorcade when he was struck by a pickup truck shortly after leaving the church. Officer Hyland, who was on a motorcycle, was hit by a Toyota Tundra, driven by a 61-year-old named Jeffrey Geller, along North Wellwood Avenue. The officer was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition. The incident, which occurred where there were no stop signs, is under investigation by Suffolk County Police.
