
Plane crashes into Lake Michigan near Wind Point, 3 saved
Three individuals were rescued when their plane went down in Lake Michigan on September 11, 2025. The U.S. Coast Guard Milwaukee verified that a search was initiated for a crashed aircraft approximately 12 miles off Wind Point in Racine County. The Coast Guard successfully rescued the trio and brought them to safety. Fortunately, all those rescued did not seem to have sustained any injuries. The Coast Guard's swift response was prompted by a distress call received from the Chicago Air Route Traffic Control Center. The rescued individuals, who were all wearing life jackets, were located thanks to their communication with first responders using a cell phone. The cause of the aircraft's crash is currently under investigation.
