Phoenix cop faces charges for assault and endangerment after March collision.
A Phoenix police officer has been charged with aggravated assault and endangerment in connection with a crash investigation that occurred in March near the Interstate 17 and Buckeye Road freeway access. The Phoenix Police Department recently announced the charges against the officer, who was found to be driving over 50 miles per hour above the speed limit while on duty. The department conducted an investigation and handed over its report to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, which led to a Grand Jury decision to charge the officer. The officer's identity and current status within the department have not been disclosed. The incident involved a collision between the officer's marked Phoenix Police Tahoe and another vehicle, resulting in both the officer and an adult in the other car being hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
