Organs of 16-year-old swimmer donated following deadly accident

A 16-year-old swimmer named Grant Freeze, from Fox Point and a student at Nicolet High School, tragically passed away in a car accident. Despite the heartbreaking circumstances, Freeze's family made the courageous decision to donate his organs. He had been involved in a crash with a dump truck while on his way to swim practice at Cedarburg High School. Freeze was put on life support and sadly succumbed to his injuries. Hospital staff honored him with a "hero walk" before procuring his organs for donation. Freeze's loved ones, friends, and fellow swimmers gathered with hospital staff to bid him a final farewell. Freeze, who had recently obtained his driver's license and registered as an organ donor, was described by his coach, Stephen Keller, as having a generous spirit. Keller commended Freeze's family for their brave choice to donate his organs, which will potentially save the lives of others.
