Obituary set for CU student who died in kayaking incident
The funeral arrangements for Peyton Hughes, a 21-year-old who tragically passed away in a kayaking incident in Hemphill, Texas, have been released. As noted in his obituary, Hughes completed his education at Washington County High School and was pursuing his final year at Campbellsville University. He was actively engaged in the Tigers Kayak Fishing Team at the university. A visitation is set to commence at River of Life Community Church at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, followed by a funeral service. Sara, his mother, expressed her deep sorrow on Saturday, stating, "My heart is shattered in ways I cannot articulate. Peyton was not only my son but also my source of happiness, laughter, and pride. He had an ardent enthusiasm for fishing and life, tirelessly pursuing his dreams. His radiant smile illuminated every space, and his benevolence touched all who had the privilege of knowing him."
