NYS Police apprehend Port Byron resident for fatal collision in 2021
An arrest has been made in Auburn related to a fatal crash incident that occurred in 2021. The incident involved a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle along State Route 31 in the town of Montezuma. The victim, identified as Donald Condes of Auburn, was pronounced dead at the scene. After years of investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Auburn, the driver of the vehicle was identified as Rocco A. Stanley, age 41, of Port Byron. Stanley turned himself in at the State Police barracks in Auburn on September 16, 2025, where he was arrested and charged. He was driving a black Dodge Journey SUV at the time of the crash. Stanley has been taken into custody and is awaiting arraignment at the Cayuga County Jail. Assistance at the scene was provided by various local departments and emergency services.
