NPD: 1 person seriously injured in Colley Ave. crash with pedestrian.
In Norfolk, a serious accident occurred Wednesday morning at the intersection of West 47th Street and Colley Avenue, where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries. Police responded to the scene around 9:45 a.m., and the injured pedestrian was rushed to a nearby hospital. The driver involved in the accident stayed at the scene. Authorities have cordoned off that section of North Colley Ave for investigation, prompting drivers to find alternate routes. This incident comes after a tragic crash last November near 52nd Street, also on Colley Avenue, resulting in fatalities. The city has implemented safety improvements along the northern corridor of Colley Avenue, such as installing pedestrian signals and marked crosswalks, but advocates are advocating for further safety measures to protect pedestrians and cyclists in the area.
