New details disclosed about fatal Clay County plane crash.

A recent report from the NTSB has provided more information regarding a recent plane crash that resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals in Clay County, last month. On August 27, a small aircraft crashed close to the Midwest National Air Center in Mosby, Missouri, claiming the lives of Vickie and Mark Spelts, a couple from California. According to the initial findings, the airplane began to decrease in altitude around 25 miles away from the airport. The report notes that the plane was flying lower than a standard traffic pattern and continued to descend. An eyewitness who lived near the crash site described seeing the aircraft appearing to be flying at a low speed and altitude. The report details the aircraft's left wing dipping down briefly, then leveling out, only to dip again, causing the plane to roll left and eventually collide with the ground. Upon examination of the wreckage, it was found that the landing gear was down, and the flaps were retracted, with no mention of mechanical problems or pilot communication leading up to the crash. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, with a final report expected in 12-18 months.
