Neighbor's attempt to rescue victims in Schoharie car crash.
The Village of Schoharie is mourning the loss of two beloved members of their community who tragically passed away in a car accident on Rickard Hill Road early Sunday morning. Stephen Salisbury, a neighbor who witnessed the crash, described how he sprang into action to assist when he heard the impact. With the car engulfed in flames, he managed to rescue the passenger, Sybil Laraway, before emergency services arrived. Despite their efforts, Laraway later succumbed to her injuries at Albany Medical Center. The village residents fondly remembered Laraway and the driver, Delwin Shaver, as cherished members of their tight-knit community. The workers at Clappers Glass Bar, where the couple had been just the night before, shared how Laraway and Shaver were funny and kind individuals who had recently returned to the area after a brief stint in Florida. The entire community is saddened by the loss, and Salisbury emphasized the importance of unity and compassion in times of tragedy. The crash is currently being investigated by authorities.
