Multiple vehicles crash in Wilkinsburg results in numerous injuries
A collision involving five vehicles occurred in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County on Thursday evening, resulting in multiple reported injuries. The crash took place near Penn Avenue and East Swissvale Avenue. Video footage captured at the scene shows several police cars and ambulances present, with one vehicle shown flipped on its side. Pittsburgh police revealed that detectives had initiated a traffic stop elsewhere, but the driver of a black SUV attempted to evade them. Thankfully, officers adhered to the department's pursuit policy and did not engage in a chase. The crash unfolded shortly after, involving a sequence of collisions that eyewitness Jarred Reccek vividly described. Nine individuals received medical attention, with five having to be taken to the hospital, fortunately without sustaining critical injuries. The driver responsible will face charges.
