Mother shoots and kills monkey truck Mississippi: Latest incident.
A Mississippi homeowner recently recounted to The Associated Press about her encounter with one of the monkeys that had escaped following a truck accident. Jessica Bond Ferguson shared that her son noticed a monkey in their yard near Heidelberg, prompting her to take action out of concern for her family's safety. With five children ranging from ages 4 to 16, she felt compelled to protect them and ultimately ended up shooting the monkey as it approached. The incident occurred days after a truck carrying research monkeys crashed on the interstate, resulting in multiple escaped monkeys. The Jasper County Sheriff's Office later confirmed the homeowner's account and handed the monkey over to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. Despite initial fears of disease transmission, officials claimed the monkeys were not infectious, yet emphasized the need to contain them due to their aggressive behavior.
